After Vodafone Idea and Airtel Bharti increased their prepaid tarrif rates, Reliance Jio too has joined the list. Jio announced that it has hiked it's tarriff rates by at least 20 percent.
This hike comes on a backdrop of other two major telecom operators namely Airtel Bharti and Vodaphone Idea hiking their tariff rates by 25 and 26 percent respectively last week. The new Jio prepaid plans prices are scheduled to go live from December 1st 2021.
The operator launched new unlimited plans that it claims are in line with its "commitment to further strengthen a sustainable telecom industry", Reliance Jio said in a statement.
After the hike in traffic rates, the current ₹ 75 plan will cost ₹ 91 from December 1, a hike of more than 20 per cent. The ₹ 129 plan will cost ₹ 155, ₹ 399 plan will cost ₹ 479, the ₹ 1,299 plan will become ₹ 1,559 and the ₹ 2,399 plan will cost ₹ 2,879.
Jio further mentioned that data top-ups will now cost ₹ 61 for 6 GB (up from ₹ 51), ₹ 121 for 12 GB (up from ₹ 101), and ₹ 301 for 50 GB (up from ₹ 251).
All three telecom majors have announced the hikes within a week of each other. Still, in comparison with other two giant telecom operators, Airtel Bharti and Vodafone Idea, Reliance Jio has relatively lesser tariff rates. In short, it's giving more value in relatively less money.
