Kentucky: At least 84 people have died as a result of the 'longest ever' tornado in the United States | Trendsfirst

Tornadoes ripped through the United States, hurting citizens in at least six states, killing at least 84 people. It is estimated that up to a hundred people have died in Kentucky alone.

Officials have reported "confirmed fatalities" after workers at an Amazon warehouse in Illinois were trapped after the ceiling fell.

Hundreds of people are believed to have died across the midwest and the southern United States as a result of a series of violent nighttime tornadoes that struck overnight between Friday and Saturday.

Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, a Democrat, stated "north of 70" people were killed in the path of a tornado that spanned at least 200 miles. Mr. Beshear noted that the death toll was projected to rise to 100 by Saturday evening.

“It has been one of the toughest nights in Kentucky history,” the governor said. “Some areas have been hit in ways that are hard to put into words.”

According to the predicted death toll, the storm that pounded the state on Friday night could be the deadliest since 1890, when 76 people were killed in the Louisville area.

According to meteorology scientists, the tornado may have traveled up to 250 miles, making it the longest twister on record.
