Rohit Sharma passes a fitness test
In limited-overs cricket, Rohit Sharma is expected to make a comeback as India captain. Because Rohit Sharma, India's skipper, has passed the fitness test. Rohit will be eligible for India's ODI and T20I series against the West Indies. On Wednesday afternoon, Rohit Sharma will meet with the selection committee at the National Cricket Academy. While recovering from a hamstring injury, the limited-overs captain was had to take a rigorous fitness test at the NCA in Bengaluru. Rohit Sharma, India's limited-overs captain, is healthy and ready to lead the squad against the West Indies in a six-match white-ball series that begins on February 6 in Ahmedabad with three one-day internationals.
A hamstring injury has put Rohit out of India's Test and ODI series in South Africa. After Virat Kohli was ousted as India's ODI captain ahead of the country's trip of South Africa, he was appointed. In the absence of Rohit, India was led by KL Rahul. India, on the other hand, lost the series 3-0 under his leadership.
All eyes, though, will be on the team selection meeting, which will take place this week. Because many senior players did not perform well in the recently finished series against South Africa. A sword can be hung on them in such a case. But the good news for the team is that Rohit is ready to lead the team after being ruled out of the South Africa tour due to a left hamstring injury. The T20 matches against the Caribbean team are to be held in Kolkata from 16 to 20 February.
Hardik Pandya may return
Hardik Pandya has started bowling in the nets. Whether he will be able to bowl at his full potential is not yet clear but with Venkatesh Iyer's inexperience at No.6 and head coach Rahul Dravid's admitting that Hardik was missed, the Baroda player's way back against the West Indies can be clear.
“You have to remember that after the T20 World Cup, Hardik was dropped from the T20 team and was not rested due to fitness. The selectors wanted to send him a message after his poor performance in the T20 World Cup but he is a good player and cannot be left out for long. "If not against West Indies, he will definitely come back against Sri Lanka," he said.
