New Delhi: A strong earthquake of 6.0 magnitude struck India - Myanmar border on Friday morning, according to the National Center for Seismology.
According to the Seismology Center, the quake which occured at 5:15 am had its epicentre 183 kilometres east of Chittagong in Bangladesh.
Its strong tremors were felt across the Indian states of Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Assam. Some witness accounts went on to say that its aftereffects were felt as far away as Kolkata.
"It was one of the longest earthquake I've ever felt," one such witness from Mizoram's Thenzawl posted on (EMSC), Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre.
